NBRA raises concerns following new vehicle repair bill figures

The National Body Repair Association (NBRA), which represents vehicle repair firms, has raised further concerns, following figures published today that shows motor insurers have paid out a total of £2 billion* in claims in the second quarter of 2017.

The figures published by the Association of British Insurers (ABI) suggest that these rising costs have been fuelled by rising repair bills and higher theft costs.

Jason Moseley, NBRA Director comments, “Grossly inflated charges for non-fault, compared to the equivalent at fault repairs are widespread and are a contributing factor to this issue, and the ABI needs to get to grips with some of its members practices.

“There is warning of an increasing trend towards large corporates pressuring small firms to work with opaque practices and poor commercial terms.

“There has to be transparency and the Government has to get involved and conduct a wider investigation.”
