Following on from last year’s successful launch of the Parkers New Car Awards, it’s back again for 2019 and it’s bigger and better than ever. New for this year, Parkers.co.uk – the reviews website that delivers trusted no-nonsense advice for Britain’s car-buying public – has partnered with Absolute Radio, headline sponsor alongside Mustard.co.uk.
Parkers.co.uk has revealed the 57 cars, vans, pickups and services shortlisted in the Parkers New Car Awards 2019.
The awards reflect the views of Britain’s car-buying public, and have been shaped by detailed analysis of Parkers.co.uk traffic: 77% of site visitors are researching cars from multiple market sectors, destroying the long-held notion of traditional competitor sets and rivals. Once again, the major lifestages of our 2.3+ million monthly users* have been reflected in the award categories.
Parkers’ ongoing research also finds 78% of car buyers don’t like jargon, so there is no industry terminology for its awards – instead it has created plain English categories such as Best First Car, Best Small Family Car and Best Car for Thrill-Seekers. Parkers.co.uk has shortlisted the cars its expert reviewers have tested independently and rigorously, analysing cost-per-month, value, quality, overall excellence and fitness for purpose.
The Parkers New Car Awards continue to disrupt the awards sector – not just by harnessing scientific analysis of how car buyers shop, but also by partnering with sister brands from Bauer Media’s portfolio of more than 100 influential digital and print titles, as well as our raft of high-quality radio stations. The company’s brands reach 22 million people every month – one in two adults in the UK.
New awards categories have been added to reflect the buying habits of Parkers.co.uk users. These are Best Off-Roader and Best Tow Car, and we’ve also used our insight into the secondhand market via Parkers Cars for Sale to launch our first Best Used Car award.
Along with these additional award categories for 2019, Parkers.co.uk is introducing a brand new People’s Choice Award. This award is directly aimed at engaging car buyers with the electric/plug-in car debate. The future of electric motoring is the hot topic of the moment in the automotive industry.
The People’s Choice Award is designed to ask car buyers their opinions on plug-in cars and how ready they are to ditch traditionally fueled vehicles by switching to electric power. The insights will help shape the thinking of Parkers.co.uk and answer consumers’ concerns. The vote comes down to choosing the most exciting plug-in cars from a shortlist of six new model to be launched in 2019. Those who take part in the vote will also be encouraged to answer a few questions on what they think about electrified cars.
Keith Adams, Parkers.co.uk editor, said: ‘It’s great that we’ve been able to expand the Parkers New Car Awards to include more categories, the People’s Choice award, and a brand-new joint-partner from the Bauer portfolio. We’ve combined what we know about our users with more than 100 years of car reviewing expertise on our team. It’s a fabulous line-up of exceptional cars in an awards list like no other.’
The winners of the Parkers New Car Awards 2019 and the Parkers New Car of The Year 2019 will be announced on 20 September 2018.
